Our safari begins with a morning departure on our 4 x 4 comfortable safari vehicle for the beautiful Lake Manyara. We will have a picnic lunch enroute as we visit some interesting African villages. Upon arrival at Manyara we start off with a game safari. Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife.

More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks. Large buffalo, wildebeest and zebra herds congregate on these grassy plains, as do giraffes – some so dark in coloration that they appear to be black from a distance.

Day 3: Lake Manyara-Olduvai Gorge-Serengeti National Park
A short and typical African countryside drive gets us to Olduvai Gorge Gorge – the over 2 million old archaeological site. Here we explore the site and the museum and learn about the remains of vast numbers of animals that roamed these plains eons ago. At the museums we see the famous Zinj skull, the Zinjanthorpus man of 1.8 million years ago, whose remains were found here by Dr. Leakey. From here we proceed to the world’s most famous game park – Serengeti - and have our first game drive before reaching our deluxe lodge.

Day 4: Serengeti
Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value. With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson's gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular - the annual Serengeti migration. We will have two half day game safaris today. Optional balloon safari is also available.

All of the “Big Five” are present living a privileged existence on the crater floor, so placid, you could almost move quietly amongst them.
